Dr. Mitul Shah graduated in 2008 and gained valuable experience by working in several private clinics alongside seasoned dentists. During this time, he honed his skills across all areas of dentistry. Subsequently, Mitul pursued further training at the Royal Hospital of Melbourne and successfully passed his registration exam in 2012. Following his training, he assumed the role of principal dentist in Ingham (QLD), where he served for six years. In 2018, driven by a desire to be closer to his family, he made the decision to relocate to Newcastle. There, he continued his dental career at Bupa Dental. In February 2020, Dr. Shah fulfilled his ambition by establishing and commencing practice in his own dental surgeries, Medowie & Stockton Dental. This marks a significant milestone in his journey towards providing high-quality dental care to the community.
Dr. Garima Shah obtained her dental degree in 2011, marking the commencement of her notable journey in dentistry. Post-graduation, she embraced a path of continual learning and professional development. Motivated by a dedication to excellence, she actively sought opportunities to collaborate with highly skilled dentists in private clinics, thereby enriching her skills and knowledge. In 2014, Dr. Shah achieved a significant milestone in her career by successfully passing the Australia Dental Council exam. Subsequently, she committed herself to serving the community as a Senior Dental Officer in Ingham and Townsville Hospital, where she positively impacted the lives of numerous patients. Driven by a desire to be closer to her family, Dr. Shah made the pivotal decision to relocate to Newcastle, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. It was in Newcastle that she welcomed her first child, a beautiful daughter, into the world. Continuing her passion for dentistry in the Newcastle area, Dr. Shah served as an Associate Dentist at Charlestown Dental Centre and various private clinics, consistently delivering top-notch dental care to her patients. In February 2020, alongside her husband, Dr. Mitul Shah, she fulfilled their shared dream of establishing their own dental practice. This commitment to their community and profession culminated in the opening of their dental practices, an achievement they both deeply cherish.
Dr. Hose Kim, a 2018 graduate of Griffith University located on the Gold Coast, became a valued member of our team in September 2022. In addition to his dental practice, he is actively pursuing further studies in orthodontics with the goal of delivering exceptional orthodontic care and helping patients achieve their desired smiles. Known for his warm demeanor, Hose is committed to ensuring that every patient feels comfortable and leaves our practice with a positive experience. He possesses a remarkable ability to connect with children and provide gentle care. Currently based in Newcastle, Hose dedicates his full-time efforts to both of our dental surgeries, Medowie & Stockton Dental.
Carrie, who has been part of our team as a dental assistant since May 2023, began her journey into the dental industry with us. She finds immense satisfaction in aiding individuals in enhancing their health, knowing that they are receiving the necessary care. Witnessing the joy on patients’ faces after achieving positive outcomes brightens her day. Carrie finds her role captivating and fulfilling, continuously expanding her knowledge and skills. Her warm and inviting demeanor radiates throughout our bustling practice as she enthusiastically supports patients, takes the time to comprehend their health and concerns, and provides valuable assistance to our dentists.
Sophie, our Front Office Coordinator at Stockton Dental, became a valued member of our team in January 2022. Since joining us, she has wholeheartedly embraced the dental industry and is eager to grow her role within the business. Sophie is deeply passionate about helping others and takes great joy in seeing patients leave our practice with smiles on their faces. Outside of work, she maintains an active lifestyle at the gym and delights in adventurous outings with her partner and two dogs. You’ll frequently find her extending a warm welcome to guests at the reception desk, and occasionally, she lends a hand in the dental surgery as needed.
Anna, who became part of our team in 2021 as a dental assistant, has now transitioned into the role of Front Office Coordinator. With a certificate in Dental Assisting, Anna is deeply passionate about her work in the dental field. Her enthusiastic and diligent nature, along with a sincere desire to assist others, greatly contributes to our team’s success. Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending her weekends at the beach or indulging in brunch outings with friends. While her primary role is at the front reception, she is always willing to lend a hand in the surgery whenever necessary.
Ann began her dental journey in 2013 as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery student in the UK. Presently, she works as a dental assistant at our practice while pursuing her dental studies to become a licensed practitioner in Australia. Collaborating closely with our dentists, Ann actively expands her knowledge and acquires valuable dental experience for her future career. Beyond her professional pursuits, Ann finds joy in swimming and actively participates in salsa dancing classes, embracing a well-rounded life beyond dentistry.
Dr.May Hefny is an associate general dentist who joined our team in October 2023. Dr. May graduated in 2003 and had her bachelor degree in oral and dental medicine and surgery from Ain-shams university, Cairo , Egypt . She worked then in the dental clinic of private hospital in Egypt. She completed her master degree in 2011 at same university , she gained experience in different aspects of general dentistry. She passed the Australian Dental Council examinations in 2019. she has special interest in Root canal treatment and she is competent in different aspects of general dentistry. She is very good caring and gentle in nature and has been looking after his 80 year old father. She loves reading and learning and always proactie.
Ma Loisa Anne Stead is a registered nurse in Philippines and Australia who also has a passion in dentistry and has been working as a dental assistant since 2016. She enjoys making a difference in patients’ lives. For her, it is very rewarding to see patients’ smiles transform and how it builds their self-esteem. Working in Medowie and Stockton Dental since 2021 under the management of Dr. Garima Shah and Dr. Mitul Shah, Loisa is able to continue her love for dentistry and serve as a RN at the same time.
I am Marielo, I became a registered nurse in the Philippines while working as a lady guard at International School Manilla also supporting my 3 children as a single mother . I am now married to a wonderful Australian man who became the father of my 3 children . I love the beach, gardening and I especially love Roses as well as eating out and travel . In my time in Australia I have seen this beautiful country from Brisbane to Adelaide and eveywhere in between traveling with my husband. I possess a strong foundation in healthcare, my background as a registered nurse in the Philippines allows me to understand the importance of patient comfort and safety. I enjoy building relationships with patients and helping them feel at ease during their visits, alleviating any anxiety patients may have about dental procedures. The collaborative nature of working alongside dentists and other dental professionals appeals to me. I appreciate being part of a team that shares the common goal of promoting oral health and providing quality care. This process gives me a sense of purpose. Overall, my transition from nursing to being a dental assistant has allowed me to leverage my skills while embracing new challenges within an environment that prioritizes patient care and professional development.
I’m Halimah, I recently joined the Medowie Dental and Stockton Dental team in 2024 as a dental assistant after finishing high school and my AIN’s at TAFE. I will soon be beginning my nursing studies in University and am looking forward to it. I’m looking to expand my knowledge and skills in the healthcare sector and am thoroughly enjoying working alongside the lovely team. Outside of work I enjoy hanging out with friends, shopping and reading. Although I am primarily a dental assistant I occasionally lend a hand at front of desk.Â

Working in dental industry is never mundane. It is an ever changing environment and always on your feet.
Through my experience working as a DA, I find out that most people are terrified visiting the dentists and some have troubles sleeping a night before their appointment .I think to be able to provide compassionate and emphatic attitude towards the patient at all times is essential.
I enjoyed helping our highly skilled dentists and oral hygienist to make sure patient feel calm, relax and confident throughout their appointment. I understand that our primary job responsibilities is to ensure patient’s safety and comfort. I love and take pride of my work in doing everything I can as a team.
Working in dental environment is a challenging sometimes. It is very important to show professional demeanour at all times which play an important role in patient satisfaction. You will meet unhappy patients, and patients who are in pain .I need to be able to communicate effectively with various type of people -from patients of all ages,to dental staff and dentists.It teaches me to be more resilient and dedicated to always do my best. Part of being a good communicator is knowing how to listen. I am fond of interacting with patients every day from all ages and different walks of life and listen to their stories.
I find dental assisting as incredibly rewarding role that allows me to help others and able to improve people’s confidence, health and well-being. Supporting our dentists and oral hygienist, make patients comfortable and listened to. I find it meaningful and purposeful .It is pleasurable to see patients pain free, happy and satisfied for the service we provide.
